September 5–8

Enjoy a smorgasbord of creativity and entertainment at the16th annual Culturefest World Music & Arts Festival in Pipestem. The Appalachian South Folklife Center hosts a variety of music and dance performances, children’s activities, artisan vendors, community art projects, an epic fire circle and more.

All the Right Notes
September 21–22

Are you a fan of regional wines? Do you enjoy local jazz? Find the best of both worlds at the ticketed West Virginia Wine & Jazz Festival at Camp Muffly outside Morgantown. More than a half-dozen wineries and vineyards offer oh-so-smooth samples, while an impressive lineup of musical acts deliver soothing tunes. Artisans will also showcase their works, including pottery, soaps, jewelry, wood art and paintings.

It’s a Bird, It’s a Plane … It’s Mothman!
September 21–22

In 1966, West Virginians reportedly spotted a mysterious creature in the Point Pleasant area. The 18th Annual Mothman Festival commemorates that sighting with events along Point Pleasant’s Main Street. Listen to guest speakers cover topics ranging from the Mothman to paranormal activity. Dress up in your favorite costume, and check out the cool food, music and Mothman merchandise.

Mixed Martial Arts—and Crafts
September 27–29

Take a stroll through the Jefferson County WV Fairgrounds in Kearneysville for a juried show of crafts and fine arts at the ticketed Mountain Heritage Arts & Crafts Festival, now in its 44th year. Meet some 200 artisans; enjoy wines, craft beers and local food; groove to some bluegrass; and attend a car show. Appalachian craft activities are free for kids.

Patch Things Up
October 5–6

Get a taste of the good ol’ days at the Pumpkin Harvest Festival at the Burlington United Methodist Family Services campus in Beckley. This fun-for-everyone event features a quilt show, festival foods, live music and a cornucopia of competitions, from a pie contest to seed spitting to pumpkin decorating. The kids will especially enjoy the hayrides, miniature train rides and inflatable castles.

Tasty Treats
October 12

Whether it’s the savory culinary innovations of local restaurants or delicious comfort food from local civic clubs and nonprofit organizations, the 35th annual Taste of Our Towns (TOOT) event is sure to delight your taste buds. Join thousands of festivalgoers from across the region as they flock to downtown Lewisburg for great food and live music throughout the day.

Bridge the Gap
October 19
Get ready for thrills aplenty at the annual Bridge Day, West Virginia’s largest single-day festival. Thousands of spectators and some of the world’s best BASE jumpers make their way to the New River Gorge Bridge near Oak Hill to either walk across the bridge, rappel down it—or jump off it, 876 feet into the gorge below!
